Objective
Ahead of their grand opening, Oīshi Ramen needed a brand style to reflect their promise of a relaxing and high-quality dining experience in the middle of downtown London, along with a website to showcase their flavourful Japanese dishes, drive customers to their restaurant, and facilitate online orders.

Process
The logo icon subtly references that poche is the French for pocket, with a uniform weight and parallel lines that integrate seamlessly into the wordmark, for which I chose to use an open, elegant, and art-deco-inspired typeface. The simplicity of the icon and wordmark allows them to be incorporated tastefully into garments and accessories for subtle brand promotion.

I created three geometric character illustrations, each a unique size and shape, to represent the brand’s focus on diversity and inclusion. These illustrations, along with the brand pattern, mirror the logo’s style, resulting in a uniform identity fitting for the functionality-forward brand.
The high-contrast colour palette is inspired by luxury fashion brands, but a deep navy blue and soft beige were chosen in place of the black-and-white combination commonly used. This softer pairing creates a more welcoming feel, better targeting a middle-class audience.
